What will I learn?

This course will equip you with the practical skills and knowledge you need to work with people with high needs such as dementia, how to plan and conduct recreational programs, and how to confirm physical health status. Our highly-experienced teachers will give you the one-on-one guidance you need to succeed in your studies.

Throughout the Diploma you will learn:

– The skills to incorporate sociological concepts into leisure and health programming.

– How to effectively provide recovery-orientated mental health services, and home and community support services.

How will I learn?

Dive right into the course with our help and guidance. Our goal as trainers and educators is to spark your curiosity while allowing you to learn at your own pace. This course is online and fully flexible, so you can study when you want, where you want. 

You’ll have access to all your course materials through our online learning environment that you can access at any time, from anywhere that has an internet connection. Our learning platform has an app that allows for learning and progression through the course while you are offline and updates your progress once you are back online. What a great way to study during your travels or lunch break! Your course materials have been specially designed for online learning by world-class health and fitness experts.


You’ll be assessed through multiple choice quizzes, short answer questions, projects, workbooks, and practical assessments. All the written assessments are online, giving you the freedom to sit and complete them at a time that suits you. For practical assessments, you can complete your workbook with your selected mentor at your local gym, or you can arrange with your Move Academy trainer and assessor to come to us for assessment. Another alternative is to send us videos of you delivering the required skills, where you’ll demonstrate what you’ve learnt by instructing a gym buddy.

Your Move Academy trainer and assessor will work with you throughout your program to answer any questions you have about coursework, study materials, assessments and exams. Our dedicated student support team will be on hand during business hours to assist you with any queries that you may have to help you succeed with your program and enter the health and fitness industry.

The Diploma of Leisure and Health (CHC53415) will allow you to work within a facility and be responsible for planning, designing, coordinating and implementing recreation and leisure-based activity programs to support, challenge and enhance the psychological, spiritual, social, emotional and physical wellbeing of individuals.

The Move Academy Diploma of Leisure and Health (CHC53415) will allow you to work as a Lifestyle Coordinator or a Diversional Therapist in a variety of settings. The program is perfect for people who want a qualification that will allow them to excel in the health and community services field.  This program will allow you to work with people supported by the NDIS. 

According to the Australian government’s Job Outlook service, diversional and recreational therapists are expected to experience job and opportunity growth until 2026.
